The Lifelong Learning Department (LLL Department) of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic focuses mainly on adult learning. It is responsible for the process of accreditation of further educational programmes as well as for the process of validation of professional competence. The department manages a complete IT system of adults´ further education.
Further the LLL Department deals with the implementation of lifelong learning strategies, cooperates with institutions of the European Union on national and international tools for recognition of skills and learning outcomes and takes part in various national and international working groups in the field of adult learning.
The LLL Department’s representatives are currently working on a new concept for the Act on Lifelong learning. This will establish new processes for monitoring and prognostics in the field of educational needs in direct correspondence with the labour market needs.
National / international impact
The Lifelong Learning Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic coordinates national strategies for lifelong learning and counselling in adult education.
The Department is active in working groups concerning the implementation of national qualifications framework (SKKR) and the coordination of the EQF referencing process; further in the ESCO board, ECVET working groups and focuses mainly for the continuing vocational education and training programmes at EU level (the Department is also a part of the DGVT and the ET2020 Working group on Adult learning).
